It would be best to call the airline she is flying with.
Edit…There is no information as to WHEN the person is travelling? the word soon could mean anything, three months from now, tomorrow? my Chrystal ball clearly isn’t working like yours.

6 Months. A passport renewal will take around 2 weeks, also they add the time left from the old passport onto the new one. She will be refused entry with 2 month remaining.
6 months.
As long as your passport is still valid on your return date you will be okay. you only need 6 months or more for long haul destinations. check this out:

Why thumbs down for a correct answer????? Some people are a@@holes!!!!
If you are a British Citizen traveling to Spain on a British passport you just need it to be valid for the duration of your stay.
Although 6 months is usual, it is not necessary for Spain. Tumbit is right.
For Spain the Foreign Office advise that “There is no minimum passport validity requirement but your passport must be valid for the planned period of your stay.”
For an EU citizen travelling within the EU a passport or a national ID card (not issued by the UK) valid for the duration of the trip is enough.
