Last October I bought some Euros in England before going to Spain, and got 1.29 to the pound. The rate in Spain was 1.44! However, the pound is weak against the euro at the moment – but you’ll still get a better rate abroad.
Just change enough in England to get you through the first day while you look around for the best price.
My advice is to get them in the UK. You will get a better rate of exchange. The pound is very weak against the euro right now. Banks here in Spain don’t give good rates for your money and the charges may bite too.
Edit; Marks & Spencers give good rates of exchange with no charges.
the exchange rate is better in Spain i have just come back from lanzarote and we got more euro to the pound on the island than here in the UK,,,,try to find a bar that does exchange as they always tend to give you more than the bank and take no commission,,,,
